I grew up in the scenic little river town of Stillwater, MN and studied Business, Literature and Music at the University of St. Thomas and the University of London

So naturally I found myself working in the agency world as a digital designer.

Then I fell down the rabbit hole – into interface, IA and UX design, front-end development, 3D and AR, video and animation, game design, digital strategy, and ultimately...here.

Oh, and somewhere in there I caught the teaching bug and developed curriculum, mentored graduate students, and taught for five years at MCAD.

So I didn't take a traditional path to get here, and I don't plan on settling into one now. I believe conventional paths only lead to places we've already been. I have no interest in that.

I am, conversely, very interested in diversity. Diversity of thought, background, experience, opinion, approach, and style – because rich, complex inputs create stronger, more flexible outputs that are resilient to the whims of trend or opinion. As a leader of creative people I have come to value this above all else.

Good work is good work. And it (almost) always comes from good process. Flexible, progressive process that gets out of the way and feels invisible. My clients benefit from this approach every day.

And that's what it's all about.
